Denver’s best yoga
May 1st, 2007 Bob
Fine. I’ve admitted it. I enjoy yoga. But not just any yoga. CorePower Yoga. CorePower is the best yoga studio in Denver by far. CorePower has locations all over the Metro area and are expanding across the US as well, with studios in California, Oregon, Minnesota, and 5 locations here in Colorado.
Is this the 2000’s version of admitting that you’re a guy and you like quiche? Well, count me quiche-eater if it is.
I was doing yoga back when it wasn’t very cool. That would be wayyy back in the early 90’s. I’ve experimented with Power Yoga, Bikram yoga, hatha, Iyengar, etc. Lot’s and lots of yoga. CorePower is the best by far.
So what makes CorePower so different?
I took martial arts for over a decade, and I think it’s the same argument that can be made for what has happened to many of the martial arts styles since they came to the West. We’re much less married to tradition over here, so while a certain style of yoga or martial arts may have stayed almost exactly the same for hundreds or thousands of years in India or somewhere else in Asia, once it’s exposed to Western audiences it will inevitably be changed due to various teachers borrowing, editing, and combining aspects of different schools of yoga into one new style
CorePower combines the heat of Bikram, with great music, the flow of power yoga, and a routine that is more intuitive than methodical. And though you see the roots of CorePower yoga in other styles, it is totally and completely unique. It’s a crazy-good workout and you’ll be shocked at how much cardio strength and sheer muscle strength it takes to get through just one class.
Too manly for yoga?
Give me a break. I can almost guarantee that you’ll walk into a class and see at least a few guys who could kick your butt. Just try Dave’s Wednesday night class at the Grant studio and you’ll see what I mean. It’s not just for women or skinny dudes any more. There are lots of athletes at CorePower who use it as part of their cross-training regimen.
Give it a try, you’ll be surprised and exhausted once you do. And I can guarantee that you’ll come back for more!
